Vallauris
V

allauris is known for its pottery and ceramics.
Picasso brought fame to the town as he settled there in 1948 and worked with the owners of the ceramic workshop, Madoura. Here he produced many avant garde works, some of which can be seen at the Picasso museum in the old town of Vallauris.
The museum itself is a fortified chateau also housing paintings of the artist Magnelli. Picassos’s famous work “War and Peace” can also be seen in the chapel of the museum.
The town square of Vallauris is a beautiful traditional provençale square featuring the Homme et le Mouton as well as the church where Picasso married Jacqueline in secret.
The Galerie Madoura can still be visited.
